Understanding your score

Each country's invitation cut-off changes regularly based on demand and the number of invitations issued each round. The figures shown reflect recent draw history — always check the official government portal for the current minimum before lodging an application.

How to add points

  • Re-test your English. Going from CLB 8 to CLB 9 in all four skills adds up to 50 CRS points. Most people retake without speaking-skill prep and score the same.

  • Add French. Even basic French (B1) opens Canada's French-language draws with cut-offs in the 380s.

  • Provincial nomination. +600 CRS points — guarantees an invitation. Worth pursuing if your unenhanced score is 470+.

  • Get all your degrees credentialed. A second WES report covering a master's adds 15 points many applicants leave on the table.
